Online Teacher - Junior High Mathematics Grade 8

Overview

Become a transformative force in education by joining our global team as an online instructor for Junior High Math Grade 8. In this role, you will engage motivated junior high students worldwide, guiding them through key mathematical concepts such as linear equations, functions, and geometry in preparation for high school math. Utilizing advanced technology and curriculum support, you will conduct vibrant live lessons in a virtual classroom setting.

Class Schedule

• Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00 AM PST
• Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:00 PM PST

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct compelling live lessons tailored to a diverse, international student cohort.
• Employ various instructional techniques and digital tools to cultivate an engaging and supportive online learning environment.
• Evaluate students’ learning progress, provide specific feedback, and refine teaching strategies to maximize individual achievement.
• Develop clear course plans with well-communicated schedules for lesson content and assessments.
• Host professional interactive classes leveraging the platform's educational resources and technology.
• Create assignments and examinations, delivering constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
• Contribute to the development of comprehensive educational materials, including assessments and tests.
• Maintain an organized virtual classroom on Canvas with accessible assignments and evaluations for students.

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of experience teaching grades 6 through 8 in a formal school environment (tutoring experience not applicable).
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and academic teams.
• Comfort and enthusiasm for using online educational platforms and adopting innovative, tech-driven teaching methods.
• Familiarity with U.S. middle school/junior high curricula and developmentally appropriate pedagogies.

Preferred Qualities

• Possession of a recognized teaching certification such as a postgraduate certificate, teaching degree, or license.
• Previous experience instructing students in an online format.

This role is located in Nzalae/Nzawa areas, Kitui County, Kenya and requires onsite presence. We currently have two class timing slots available.
