Job description
Overview
This position is tasked with supporting the coordination and execution of the bank's initiatives related to green finance, sustainability, and management of environmental and social risks. The role involves working closely with development partners, technical assistance entities, and sector stakeholders to advance these priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update integrated workplans and progress trackers covering green projects, outlining milestones, accountabilities, timelines, and evidence of achievements.
- Organize and coordinate meetings, workshops, advisory sessions, and ensure timely follow-up actions among internal teams and external collaborators.
- Contribute to the development and application of institutional upgrades concerning sustainability practices and environmental and social management systems, including crafting policies, procedures, tools, templates, and guidance materials.
- Prepare and deliver accurate progress reports, briefing notes, presentations, and supporting documents for management and external stakeholders, ensuring proper version and consistency control.
- Facilitate cross-departmental coordination for prompt execution of decisions, action items, and deliverables.
- Assist in planning and conducting capacity-building programs such as trainings and workshops related to green finance and environmental and social management.
- Support onboarding of environmentally and socially responsible businesses to utilize bank products and services.
- Help implement the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) covering documentation, process coordination, internal follow-up, and reporting requirements.
- Track and report the institution's progress on sustainability, climate finance, and ESMS priorities, incorporating risk analysis, lessons learned, and management highlights.
- Prepare concise management updates and materials to facilitate senior management and committee decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental management, climate change, ESG/sustainability, economics/finance, development studies, or closely related fields.
- A minimum of one year experience in areas including project or program coordination, ESG/sustainability, environmental and social safeguards, climate finance, development projects, financial sector risk or compliance, or consulting/analyst support roles addressing these themes.
- Familiarity with financial institutions' ESMS requirements, safeguards such as grievance handling and Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) policies, and climate or greenhouse gas measurement methodologies.
- Practical knowledge of ESMS operations, including screening, risk classification, environmental and social due diligence documentation, mitigation tracking, and monitoring and reporting.
- Basic understanding of climate finance concepts, including mitigation and adaptation, green finance products, and risk-return frameworks, aligned with objectives to mobilize climate-related funding and develop eco-friendly financial solutions.
