Job description
Role Summary
The Officer for Cargo Maintenance Support & Facilities at Malaysia Airlines is tasked with ensuring the proper upkeep and functionality of all cargo-related equipment and infrastructure at Penang Airport (PENAP). This includes managing maintenance for dollies, trolleys, pallet container handling systems, weighing scales, forklifts, and cold storage areas, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards established by local authorities such as DOSH, DOE, COSH, and Bomba.
Core Responsibilities
- Guarantee that all maintenance work complies with quality standards set by aviation authorities, manufacturers, and customer expectations.
- Oversee vendor performance to ensure adherence to management’s technical specifications.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to secure required resources for effective maintenance operations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance concerning property and facilities under their charge, including adherence to Bomba Act and related safety regulations.
- Meet departmental targets for equipment availability and facility serviceability.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by supervisors.
- Uphold Integrated Management System protocols for all work and safety procedures.
- Encourage a quality-driven attitude among team members and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
- Follow departmental procedure guidelines (POS/IP01-POS/IP05) and strive to meet objectives set by the Department Head.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum educational attainment ranging from SPM, SPMV, DVM, STPM, SKM, Certificate, Diploma, to Bachelor’s Degree in related fields such as Engineering, Facilities Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or Aviation Management.
- Experience of 2 to 3 years in cargo operations, facility maintenance, or logistics support.
- Prior experience handling ground support equipment (GSE) or managing warehouse facilities is beneficial.
- Background working with cargo airlines, forwarding agents, or industrial factories related to logistics or manufacturing sectors is preferred.
Personal Attributes
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance processes and safety regulatory requirements (DOSH, DOE, Bomba).
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for interfacing with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Competent in planning, monitoring, and sustaining operational readiness of equipment and facilities.
- Comfortable using computer applications such as MS Office, SAP, or equivalent maintenance tracking software.
- Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within team settings.
- Flexibility to operate during shifts and off-standard working hours when necessary.
