Role Overview
This position is for an OEM Buyer focused on direct procurement for manufacturing operations in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The role centers on sourcing direct materials and components, working closely with OEMs and tiered suppliers, and ensuring production requirements are met without interruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle the purchase of direct production materials and components needed for manufacturing.
- Work with OEMs as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to support sourcing and buying activities.
- Raise RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate commercial terms, and close purchase orders.
- Ensure materials are available on time so production schedules are not affected.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
- Review supplier performance across quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Monitor purchase orders, coordinate delivery follow-ups, and address supply issues quickly.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing cost and increasing local sourcing.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have 1 to 3 years of experience in direct procurement or OEM buying, with mandatory exposure to Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier interactions. Background in the automotive or manufacturing sector is preferred. A solid understanding of sourcing, vendor management, and procurement workflows is important, along with strong communication and negotiation abilities. Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP tools such as SAP is expected.
Qualification
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is required. Candidates who can work from Sriperumbudur, Chennai are preferred.
