Role Overview

The Occupational Health & Safety Specialist will take a hands-on role in strengthening workplace safety across the resort. This person will help design, roll out and monitor health and safety programs, ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, carry out inspections and investigations, and support a strong safety-first culture across all departments.

Key Duties

• Support the planning, execution, administration and review of the organization’s Occupational Health & Safety Program.
• Spot workplace hazards and unsafe practices, then recommend and help put corrective and preventive actions in place.
• Contribute to initiatives that reduce the risk of injuries, illnesses and occupational diseases at work.
• Carry out inspections, hazard assessments, safety audits and compliance checks across the resort.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-miss events, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations to reduce repeat occurrences.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with occupational health and safety laws, internal policies and recognized industry standards.
• Plan and deliver training and awareness sessions on health and safety topics for employees.
• Work closely with department leaders to encourage safe work methods and continual safety improvement.
• Review existing health and safety procedures, policy documents and emergency response plans, and recommend updates where needed.
• Monitor safety data and performance indicators and prepare management reports.
• Assist with emergency preparedness, drills and business continuity activities.
• Help build a strong safety culture by promoting employee involvement and accountability.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety.
• Practical understanding of health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations and workplace inspections.
• Strong ability to write reports, analyze information and solve problems.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Professional certification in occupational health and safety will be considered an advantage.
