Role Overview

This position as an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor is a full-time role based in Dublin, offering a hybrid working model with a mix of on-campus presence and remote work possibilities. The core responsibility is to provide expert advice on occupational health and safety for TU Dublin’s multiple campus settings, assisting with the enforcement and enhancement of safety protocols, procedures, and risk management strategies.

Key Duties

• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections to identify and evaluate hazards.
• Recommend and implement control measures to reduce occupational risks.
• Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, prepare detailed reports, and monitor the completion of corrective actions for ongoing safety improvements.
• Design and deliver safety-related training sessions such as workshops, briefings, and awareness campaigns tailored for varied staff and student populations.
• Foster and maintain a positive safety culture across all university departments.
• Work collaboratively with academic and professional personnel to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• In-depth knowledge and practical exposure to Health & Safety and Occupational Health within large, complex organizations.
• Skillful in accident investigation processes, including incident documentation, root cause analysis, and formulation of corrective and preventive measures.
• Experience with the creation and facilitation of safety education programs for diverse audiences.
• Solid understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles and related compliance requirements, particularly relevant to educational or public-sector entities.
• Possession of a relevant third-level qualification in occupational health and safety or a related area; professional certifications like NEBOSH or IOSH are valued.
• Ability to interpret safety legislation and standards and apply them practically within the institution’s context.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging colleagues at all organizational levels constructively.
• Demonstrated capability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and contribute to cross-functional team efforts.
