Job description

About the team

The Restaurant Acquisition team drives DoorDash’s expansion in New Zealand by finding, pitching, and signing small and medium-sized restaurant partners. The group helps broaden local dining choice on the platform and supports growth in every market served.

About the role

This position focuses on bringing new SMB restaurant partners onto DoorDash across New Zealand. The role owns the entire sales journey, including prospecting, outreach, pitching, negotiation, and closing, while building a strong pipeline of merchants that contribute to marketplace growth.

You will work closely with teams across Marketing, Operations, Customer Success, and Strategy, using market knowledge and competitive insights to win business in your territory and convert strong prospects.

This is a field-heavy position that involves travel throughout your assigned region and, on occasion, additional travel across New Zealand, including overnight stays. A valid full New Zealand driver licence is required, and candidates should be comfortable with travel demands that may change based on business priorities and market needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Source, pitch, and secure new restaurant partners, including well-known local favourites and emerging venues.
  • Build and execute a targeted acquisition plan that focuses on high-value prospects and closes selection gaps in important markets.
  • Use market data, competitive intelligence, and platform insights to strengthen outreach and tailor persuasive pitches.
  • Handle objections, negotiate commercially, and close deals that position partners for durable success.
  • Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Post-Sales teams to deliver a smooth onboarding experience and strong speed to first order.
  • Stay informed about competitor moves, local food trends, and merchant sentiment, then feed those insights back to the business.
  • Share effective sales tactics, pipeline habits, and practical support with teammates to help lift overall team performance.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking someone with at least 4 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or new business acquisition. The right candidate should have a proven history of hitting or exceeding sales goals and winning new business.

You should bring strong prospecting skills, disciplined pipeline management, and a hunter mindset. Commercial judgment, the ability to shape a convincing value proposition, and effective negotiation skills are essential.

We are also looking for a confident communicator who can influence effectively by phone, email, and in person, and someone who thrives in fast-moving, high-growth environments. Being competitive, adaptable, solution-oriented, and naturally collaborative is important. A valid full New Zealand driver licence is required.
