Job description

About the Organization

Moral Welfare Home is a residential care facility that supports people with multiple disabilities, including physical and intellectual disabilities as well as psychiatric conditions. The home is recognized by the Ministry of Social and Family Development and receives public funding for residents who are destitute and wards of the state.

Role Overview

The Nursing Aide supports the physical and emotional well-being of residents through basic clinical nursing care. This role is part of a nursing team within a wider multidisciplinary care environment. The position requires compassionate handling of residents, strong professional ethics, and a polished, respectful manner when dealing with external medical and healthcare stakeholders.

Key Duties

  • Perform assigned tasks and follow procedures directed by the Registered Nurse, such as a Staff Nurse, Senior Staff Nurse, or Nurse Manager.
  • Support and oversee residents with hygiene routines, including oral care, bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Protect residents’ safety, comfort, and overall welfare, while addressing their concerns in a professional manner.
  • Observe each resident’s individual needs and escalate any issues or concerns to the Registered Nurse promptly.
  • Help serve meals and provide feeding support when necessary.
  • Monitor and support residents’ hydration and nutritional intake.
  • Keep care records accurate, complete, and documented on time each day.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with nursing procedures and treatments during incidents or special situations.
  • Support the admission process and help orient new residents.
  • Carry out routine cleaning for the dispensary and related equipment.
  • Assist with medical escorts, transportation arrangements, and accompany residents for medical appointments and reviews.
  • Act as a medical chaperone for residents during outings.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by supervisors or the Superintendent of the Home.

Qualifications and Working Requirements

The role is open to candidates who hold, at minimum, a nursing certification from a recognized institution and are registered or eligible for registration with the Singapore Nursing Board. Applicants should be prepared to work in a three-shift roster. Fresh graduates are welcome, and prior experience is not required. Backgrounds involving cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams will be an advantage. Candidates should be comfortable caring for residents with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities, and should bring strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Additional Notes

This position involves direct care for residents in a welfare-home setting, where dignity, professionalism, and ethical conduct are essential. The role may include support during incidents, medical visits, and resident outings, as well as coordination with a wider care team.
