As a Nurse onboard, you will deliver nursing care to guests and crew members, ensuring their health and safety during the voyage.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and intensive care onboard for guests and crew across all ages.
  • Maintain and inspect medical equipment as guided by the Charge Nurse, coordinating supplies and repairs when needed.
  • Train the Emergency Stretcher Team and support onboard health education initiatives.
  • Triage emergency incidents, assess patients onsite, provide treatment, and facilitate transfers to the ship’s medical center.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all medical records and information.
  • Assist with executing immunization programs for crew members.
  • Support the administrative functions and technical tasks to ensure smooth and safe medical center operations.
  • Manage medical supplies, participate in drills, audits, inspections, and train other crew members.
  • Engage in ongoing clinical skills development and sustainment training regularly.
  • Serve on a rotating on-call schedule as the first responder during overnight medical emergencies.
  • Work closely with shore-side medical leadership and teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in nursing from an approved institution within an STCW-compliant country.
  • Active nursing license recognized under STCW standards.
  • At least 2 years of current nursing experience, with minimum 18 months in high-acuity environments such as Emergency Medicine, Trauma, or Critical Care.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, valid throughout the contract term.
  • Proficient in emergency triage and critical care procedures.
  • Experience providing first-line emergency care, onsite assessment, and medical transfers.
  • Capability to perform diagnostic tests including X-rays and laboratory analyses.
  • Comfortable with digital tools, MS Office, and electronic health records systems.
  • Ability to maintain clinical proficiency during standby or breaks in emergency, ICU, and CCU care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
  • Experience with maritime medical care and electronic medical record systems used in cruise settings.

Additional Information

This is a shipboard position requiring a genuine interest in maritime career and preparedness to live and work onboard a cruise vessel. Candidates must be committed to safety responsibilities outlined in ship protocols and appreciate multicultural environments governed by strict regulations.

  • Possess a valid passport and obtain a C1/D Seaman's visa (facilitated by company).
  • Complete mandatory pre-employment medical screening.
  • Submit to criminal background verification.
  • Provide approved work footwear.
  • Adhere to a drug-free policy with mandatory drug and alcohol testing before embarkation and periodically throughout contracts. Failure to pass testing results in immediate termination.
