Role Overview
This full-time, on-location position based in Victoria, BC, entails responsibility for overseeing new product introductions from the concept phase through to production. The NPI Engineer will collaborate across departments, manage multiple projects, and ensure that new products comply with quality and performance standards. Core duties include conducting R&D, managing product testing, and ensuring thorough project oversight throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the transition of product designs into the production environment, coordinating with supply chain, quality assurance, process development, test equipment creation, and packaging teams.
- Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives in both product and process development.
- Maintain accountability for the end-to-end value stream concerning product production and delivery.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety industry standards.
- Monitor and report on bill of material structures and labor goals related to new product introductions.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate prototype, pilot, and pre-production build milestones.
- Apply principles of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) in engineering tasks.
- Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings proficiently.
- Effectively manage workloads across several simultaneous projects.
- Define production processes and specify test equipment needs.
- Comply with company-wide and departmental technical and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, a Technologist Diploma, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
- A minimum of three years of relevant engineering or technical experience.
- Familiarity with electrical, software, or mechanical systems used in mobile equipment.
- Hands-on exposure to production or assembly settings with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Experience working in both waterfall and agile project management methodologies.

- A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to effectively share ideas within a team.
- Capable of prolonged sitting in an office environment, working extensively on a computer.
- Ability to walk on the manufacturing floor as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds.
