NEC Project Manager - Ireland

Role overview

Jacobs is looking for a seasoned NEC4 Project Manager to lead the administration and delivery of major Design and Build contracts for a client in Ireland. The role focuses on keeping programme control, payments, compensation events, early warnings, and all NEC4 contract communications on track.

You will work in a spirit of trust and cooperation with leadership partners and an integrated, site-based delivery team to help deliver complex infrastructure works successfully. The position calls for strong commercial judgement, strategic leadership, and the ability to bring together multidisciplinary teams in a fast-moving setting.

What you will do

• Support the client and leadership team with NEC4 Design & Build contract administration.
• Help manage project processes, track programme performance, and handle compensation events.
• Lead risk controls, including the NEC early warning process.
• Prepare and issue all required instructions, notices, and contractual correspondence.
• Help set up and lead the site-level Project Operations function.
• Oversee the day-to-day coordination of CP staff on the assigned scheme.
• Build and maintain detailed plans for finances and resources.
• Make sure site activities and project tasks are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Serve as a main site contact for the client and other stakeholders.
• Promote knowledge sharing across teams.
• Coordinate reporting and ensure governance standards are met.
• Support ongoing improvement and embed strong project delivery practices.

Experience and requirements

The role calls for substantial project management experience, including delivery of large infrastructure or road projects of similar size and complexity. You should have worked through the full project lifecycle from early planning to completion, and be comfortable advising clients on procurement and contract operation.

Hands-on experience with NEC4 or NEC3 scope and contract documentation is important, along with strong capability in contract administration, employer-side management, programme review and approval, and assessment of float, logic, risk allowances, and concurrency. The role also expects a proven record of delivering work on schedule and within budget, plus experience leading teams and working with varied stakeholders at all levels.

Skills and strengths

You will need confident leadership, clear communication, strong interpersonal ability, and the judgement to manage complex technical inputs while improving delivery efficiency. The right person will be highly organised, detail-oriented, capable of prioritising effectively, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Stakeholder management, negotiation, risk spotting, issue resolution, and collaboration are key. Proficiency with MS Office and standard project management tools is also expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• NEC Accredited Project Manager certification.
• Chartered Engineer status.
• SafePass accreditation.
