Role overview

This is a site-based NDT Technician position in Doha with a 6-month extended duration. The selected professional will carry out non-destructive testing tasks to check the condition of materials, welds, and components. The work will involve both surface and volumetric inspection methods, equipment setup, result evaluation, and detailed reporting aligned with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.

Key duties

  • Carry out NDT examinations on materials, welds, and components using approved methods.
  • Prepare inspection zones and configure the required testing instruments before work begins.
  • Perform surface and volumetric testing activities and interpret the findings correctly.
  • Record and report results in line with applicable standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
  • Work with quality and engineering teams to support inspection planning and defect detection.
  • Highlight possible issues and suggest suitable corrective actions when needed.
  • Follow site safety rules, contribute to toolbox talks, and attend safety briefings.
  • Keep testing equipment maintained and in proper working condition.

Experience and qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Prior exposure to turbo machinery and rotating equipment is needed.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Eddy Current testing, including setup, calibration, and interpretation of indications.
  • Hands-on experience with Ultrasonic Testing, including thickness checks and weld examination.
  • Experience inspecting piping, structural steel, or pressure equipment, along with report preparation.
  • Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and methods used to assess corrosion-related damage.
  • Working knowledge of quality control processes and standards such as ASME, API, and ISO.
  • Valid NDT certification such as ASNT Level II or an equivalent qualification in ET, UT, MT, PT, or RT, preferably ISO 9712.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, isometrics, and technical specifications.
  • Good documentation habits, strong attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for site-based multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience in oil and gas, construction, or heavy industry projects will be an added advantage.

The assignment is planned for 6 months and is based on-site in Doha, Qatar. The role is full time. No stipend or salary amount was provided in the source.
