Role Overview
The National Account Manager will spearhead strategic relationships with prominent national retail clients, driving sustainable and profitable sales expansion. This role owns comprehensive commercial responsibilities, including strategic account planning, business development, pricing, promotional tactics, category initiatives, trade negotiations, and customer engagement efforts. Collaborating across departments, the manager will formulate and execute detailed account plans to create mutual value, secure fresh business prospects, and uphold excellence in retail activation, events, and in-store executions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and nurture enduring partnerships with top national retail customers, aligning account strategies with company goals and customer growth agendas.
- Design commercial plans spanning annual and multi-year horizons, encompassing sales targets, pricing schemes, volume predictions, market dynamics, and profitability benchmarks.
- Identify, assess, and capitalize on new business opportunities within existing and potential accounts.
- Formulate and drive strategic initiatives to acquire new clients and broaden distribution channels, leading presentations, proposals, and commercial discussions to boost revenue and market share.
- Keep abreast of market trends, competitor movements, and customer tactics to spot growth avenues and anticipate potential challenges.
- Manage the entire commercial portfolio of assigned accounts by balancing revenue growth with margin targets, directing negotiations on pricing, promotions, trade terms, category growth, and annual agreements.
- Implement strategic programs such as price adjustments, cost recovery measures, product range evaluations, and category development efforts.
- Oversee customer Profit & Loss performance, ensuring financial agreements meet expected returns.
- Develop comprehensive account plans integrating market analyses, pricing strategies, volume forecasting, promotional scheduling, category insights, investment needs, and stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Utilize category and shopper data to uncover opportunities supporting customer and company advancement, working closely with internal teams across category management, marketing, supply chain, and finance to deliver tailored solutions.
