About Etqan Global Academy and Role Overview

Etqan Global Academy (EGA), located in Doha, Qatar, is a newly established IB World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We are recruiting a motivated and skilled MYP Language & Literature Teacher specializing in English to inspire students to become confident readers, writers, and communicators within the IB framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, concept-oriented English Language & Literature lessons aligned with the IB MYP curriculum and its global contexts.
  • Create engaging, inquiry-based learning activities that cultivate skills in reading, writing, critical analysis, and communication.
  • Assess student work following MYP Language & Literature criteria and provide constructive, meaningful feedback to support improvement.
  • Develop units of inquiry integrating language, literature, global perspectives, and intercultural understanding.
  • Embed Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and foster a passionate appreciation for language and reading in all teaching.
  • Support student preparation for MYP eAssessment in Language & Literature discipline.
  • Undertake Form Tutor duties and contribute to the pastoral care and overall school life.
  • Collaborate positively within the English department and the wider EGA community.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Possess a recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed, or equivalent, alongside a degree in English, Language & Literature, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching English or Language & Literature in an IB MYP school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the MYP curriculum, assessment standards, and eAssessment process for Language & Literature.
  • Exceptional literacy skills and an authentic enthusiasm for language and literature subjects.
  • Ability to design and implement concept-driven, inquiry-based, and differentiated instructional lessons.
  • Effective classroom management and strong communication capabilities.
  • Commitment to student safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Completion of IB MYP workshops in Language & Literature is preferred; experience in international schools is advantageous.
