Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Language & Literature teacher to join the MYP program. This role includes planning and executing concept-based lessons tailored to the IB curriculum, fostering the development of students' reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication capabilities. The position also involves assessing student work with MYP criteria, crafting inquiry-driven units exploring language and intercultural insights, and embedding Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills throughout teaching.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging, inquiry-based Language & Literature lessons aligned with IB MYP and global context frameworks.
- Use MYP assessment criteria to evaluate student assignments and provide constructive feedback to promote growth.
- Develop comprehensive units focusing on language, literature, and global/intercultural perspectives.
- Promote reading enthusiasm and ATL skills across all instruction.
- Support student readiness for MYP eAssessment in Language & Literature.
- Serve as form tutor and contribute actively to students' pastoral care.
- Collaborate with the English department and wider school community to enhance educational quality.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed, or equivalent, alongside a degree in English, Language & Literature, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Language & Literature or English within an IB MYP context.
- Sound understanding of MYP Language & Literature curriculum, assessment strategies, and eAssessment procedures.
- Excellent literacy and passion for language and literature education.
- Ability to design differentiated, inquiry-focused lessons effectively managed in the classroom.
- Strong communication skills and capability in classroom management.
- Dedication to safeguarding and ensuring student well-being.
- Experience with IB MYP workshops and international school environments is advantageous.
