Job description

Role overview

The Strategic Planning team at the Singapore Tourism Board is seeking an experienced officer to help shape the next phase of tourism development. The role supports the long-range direction of the sector, with a focus on identifying emerging opportunities and risks, building medium- and long-term strategies, and contributing to the Tourism 2040 roadmap. The team also tracks global tourism patterns such as connectivity changes and geopolitical developments, while preparing for major disruptions including pandemics and other shocks.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with government agencies such as MTI and MND/URA, as well as STB’s Analytics and Insights team, to review historical tourism outcomes and develop short- to long-range projections, while factoring in manpower and resource limits.
  • Collaborate with MTI and STB business units to assess how policy shifts or geopolitical events may affect Singapore’s tourism sector.
  • Work with STB line units to define target levels for important tourism indicators, ensuring they support Tourism 2040 ambitions and align with broader sector-wide goals.
  • Look beyond the immediate future to surface trends, gaps, competitive threats, and new possibilities that may influence tourism over the longer term through futures planning work.
  • Prepare quarterly briefings covering KPIs, industry outlook, and related updates for MTI.
  • Coordinate with MTI on reporting platforms, management updates, and discussions around STB priorities and performance measures.
  • Support annual corporate planning cycles for STB senior leadership and business units to align work plans across the organisation.

Working relationships

The role provides exposure to all internal business teams, helping the officer gain a broad understanding of Singapore’s tourism ecosystem and operating environment. It also involves close collaboration with MTI and other public-sector agencies, offering insight into how economic agencies coordinate to support national development.

Candidate profile

  • Applicants should bring around 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills are required.
  • The ideal candidate can think strategically, connect information across different areas, analyse data sets, and work with a high degree of independence.
  • Good business judgment, analytical ability, and sound decision-making are important.
  • Comfort working effectively within STB to deliver outcomes is necessary.
  • The role also requires the ability to collaborate well with external stakeholders.
  • A service-oriented mindset, commitment, and sense of purpose are valued.
  • The officer should also be adaptable, innovative, and committed to continuous learning.

Application note

Only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted, and this will be done within 2 weeks after the closing date for the posting.
