Job description

Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time Movements Officer role with the Department of Justice at Karnet Prison Farm in Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Western Australia. The position sits within Corrective Services and is focused on managing the paperwork and coordination needed to support prisoner transfers, movements and discharges in line with prison procedures.

Karnet Prison Farm is a minimum-security male prison located about 75 km south of Perth. It operates as a pre-release centre with a rehabilitation and reintegration focus. The farm covers roughly 400 hectares and includes an abattoir, dairy, poultry and a market garden that supply meat, milk, eggs and vegetables for use across the state’s prisons.

Compensation and employment details

The salary range for this position is VO2WK, $87,064 to $88,580 per annum, plus 12% superannuation (POA). The work type is permanent full time. Position number: 2132.

Key duties

  • Manage the daily coordination of prisoner movements into and out of the prison, ensuring the process is safe and orderly.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence relating to prisoner movements, including incident reports and WHS documentation, using spreadsheets, templates, email and internal systems.
  • Carry out relevant assessments to identify risks and make sure suitable controls are implemented for secure prisoner movement.
