Role overview
Egis Lagan Services operates from R95W409 and delivers motorway upkeep and renewal works across the Irish motorway and high-speed dual carriageway network for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The team is responsible for around 330 km of motorway and dual carriageway infrastructure.
The work includes winter operations, urgent incident support, routine asset upkeep, inspections, patrols, fixing defects, managing traffic, and liaising with stakeholders. The company is seeking a Maintenance Operative for its Kilkenny depot.
What the role involves
This position is focused on carrying out the daily road maintenance programme and supporting the project team with practical, on-the-ground work.
You will also be required to provide out-of-hours emergency call-out support on a rostered basis, which includes night shifts.
- Perform landscaping and grass-cutting duties
- Clean road furniture and related assets
- Support traffic management operations
- Carry out routine patrols and inspections of the road network
- Respond to incidents when required
- Support winter maintenance activities
- Collect litter and debris
- Complete general maintenance tasks
- Repair fencing and similar boundary assets
- Assist with small civil works such as concrete repairs and ducting
- Maintain clear and accurate records of completed work
- Undertake training as needed
- Carry out any other maintenance tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
Required qualifications and experience
The role calls for a strong maintenance background, practical experience in one or more of the listed road maintenance tasks, and a solid understanding of health and safety expectations.
- Second-level education
- Class C driving licence
- Valid Safe Pass certification
- Relevant hands-on experience in maintenance work
- Demonstrable practical experience in at least one routine maintenance activity listed in the job description
- Commitment to safe working practices and health and safety principles
Preferred qualifications and training
- Current training or certification in traffic management
- Health and safety-related training such as first aid, fire warden, manual handling, or safety representative training
- Additional job-related training or qualifications that complement the role
- Previous experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of common methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in road maintenance
Working arrangements
The role is based in person at the Kilkenny depot. Ireland work authorisation is required.
