Maidstone Smash Repairs operates as a comprehensive automotive service and repair facility located in Maidstone, Victoria. The workshop focuses on vehicle diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and routine maintenance, serving a diverse clientele to ensure their vehicles function safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic to join our Maidstone team. This full-time role involves conducting diagnostic, repair, and maintenance duties on a wide variety of vehicles, ensuring all work complies with technical and safety requirements as well as customer expectations. The position offers an annual remuneration of $82,500 plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use diagnostic tools and procedures to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Inspect and evaluate systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems.
  • Carry out routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake servicing, and adjustments.
  • Dismantle, repair, and rebuild engine components, transmissions, and related mechanical parts.
  • Replace faulty parts in line with manufacturer guidelines and workshop standards.
  • Test and verify repairs ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance.
  • Interpret technical manuals and service documentation to guide precise diagnostics and repairs.
  • Keep detailed records of servicing, repairs, and part usage as per workshop policies.
  • Detect additional faults or maintenance requirements and report these to supervisors or customers.
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety protocols and relevant automotive standards during work.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and the workshop environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain smooth workflow and timely job completion.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Hold AQF Certificate III & IV credentials in a relevant Motor Mechanic discipline.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 15 months professional experience working in a commercial automotive workshop.
  • Have at least 15 months experience diagnosing both mechanical and electrical faults across vehicle systems.
  • Experience of at least 15 months in servicing, maintaining, and repairing engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Experience with Intercontinental, Asian, and European vehicles for no less than 15 months.
  • Minimum 15 months hands-on experience with diesel engines, AWD, and 4WD vehicles.
  • At least 15 months exposure to EV and hybrid vehicle technologies.
  • Aptitude for interpreting technical manuals, specifications, and repair documentation accurately.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to resolve mechanical problems efficiently.
  • Good understanding and compliance with workplace safety and automotive regulations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively within a workshop setting.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and customers professionally.
  • Valid driver's license required.
