Mortgage Specialist

About the Role

As a Mortgage Specialist at BMO in Penticton, British Columbia, you will play a pivotal role in supporting customers to realize their homeownership aspirations. You will receive premier training and backing while leveraging our competitive referral programs to build a robust business pipeline. Your primary focus is to establish and nurture relationships with referral networks, expanding BMO’s footprint in the home financing sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage partnerships both nationally and locally to generate leads for mortgage products.
• Deploy targeted marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to enhance business outcomes.
• Identify and pursue cross-selling and upselling prospects within the branch to meet sales and profitability targets.
• Build community presence by participating in trade shows, conferences, and related events to increase brand visibility.
• Serve as a customer advocate during mortgage application and processing stages, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Collaborate closely with branch teams for successful customer hand-offs, completion of documentation, and referrals for non-mortgage products.
• Resolve or escalate customer concerns promptly to meet expectations and expedite fund disbursement.
• Offer insightful advice to clients regarding banking products and facilitate referrals to appropriate BMO partners.
• Maintain awareness of consumer needs, market trends, regulatory changes, and internal policies relevant to mortgage services.
• Execute operational tasks timely and accurately within service level agreements, keeping detailed records in internal systems.
• Analyze data to provide valuable insights, generate reports, and support strategic initiatives collaboratively.
• Exercise independent judgment within policy frameworks and contribute to risk-informed decision-making aligning with BMO’s Risk Management Framework.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience complemented by a post-secondary degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Possession of credit qualifications where applicable, alongside sound knowledge of credit portfolio management.
• Comprehensive understanding of mortgage lending processes, regulatory standards, and market dynamics.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, sales, and customer service skills.
• Proficient in self-management, teamwork, and relationship sales techniques.
• Functional familiarity with personal banking products, investments, trust services, commercial lending, and cash management.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and influence capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

This role operates on a commission-based pay structure, with compensation varying by factors such as location, experience, skills, education, and qualifications. Salaries for part-time roles are prorated accordingly.
