Job description

Position Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer role supports the ongoing TB Outreach Project by managing monitoring, evaluation, data handling, reporting, and promoting effective use of information grounded in activities related to the Mobile Screening Unit at Koidu Government Hospital in Kono District, Sierra Leone. This full-time, onsite position reports to the Health Statistics Manager in the Strategic Health Information Systems department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinical teams operating the mobile TB screening unit to document and report screening and diagnostic data using the electronic TB Hunter system.
  • Conduct routine data validation to guarantee accuracy and quality, providing timely feedback to service providers to ensure compliance with data quality standards.
  • Work jointly with clinical and community personnel to monitor patient referrals and track TB treatment outcomes for those screened via the mobile unit.
  • Offer continuous feedback to the SHIS management regarding data monitoring and evaluation activities and strategies.
  • Carry out data quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards of data collection and handling.
  • Communicate insights derived from mobile TB screening data to various stakeholders through TB Hunter outputs.
  • Support coordination and scheduling with partners and clinical staff and assist in preparing reports for donors.
  • Contribute to updating and developing M&E project tools to align with operational needs.
  • Partner with SHIS and clinical teams to pinpoint opportunities for quality improvement and operational research.
  • Provide evidence-based data for program performance tracking during clinical and operational meetings.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with key partners including government bodies, non-profits, and community leaders to ensure effective collaboration.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of a Diploma is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in M&E or a related field.
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in data collection, quality assessment, and interpretation.
  • Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
