Job description
Overview
Monash University’s Faculty of Law is inviting expressions of interest from experienced and enthusiastic educators for sessional teaching roles in upcoming teaching periods. These opportunities are suited to people with a background in legal teaching, professional legal practice, or academic experience who want to contribute to the development of the next generation of Monash Law students.
Role summary
Sessional academics support learning across a range of law subjects in the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Juris Doctor (JD) programs. The work may involve leading tutorials, running workshops and seminars, assessing student work, and providing student support.
Work location
Teaching duties may be based at the Clayton campus and the CBD Law Chambers.
Pay
Sessional rates of pay will apply.
About employment at Monash
Monash is committed to creating pathways to more secure fixed-term and continuing roles where that suits the person and the type of work. In some situations, sessional employment is still necessary, and the university will continue to engage and renew sessional academic staff where this is considered the most suitable employment arrangement, aligned with the Closing Loopholes Act and Monash’s job security commitments.
How selection works
Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee that an offer of work will follow. After you submit your EOI, you will receive a confirmation message. If sessional work becomes available that matches your teaching interests, experience, background, and availability, you may then be contacted.
Application note
Applicants are asked to submit an expression of interest through the application process provided. Further instructions and the full position description are available through the application pathway.
Additional information
Monash welcomes applications from candidates with experience across all areas of law. The university also notes its commitment to supporting a diverse workforce.
