Mobile Court & Tribunal Security Officer

About the role

This position is a roaming, multi-location security role supporting court and tribunal sites across Canterbury. The work requires flexibility to cover operational demands at different locations, with shift patterns changing based on site needs. You will help create a safe, secure, and welcoming setting for visitors, staff, and service users while delivering a professional standard of service.

You will work 40 hours each week, Monday to Friday, across sites within a set distance of your main base. The role is daytime only, with no night shifts, though cover may occasionally be needed at nearby sites depending on operational requirements.

Key duties

• Move between multiple sites within the agreed service area as required.
• Offer a courteous, helpful, and service-led experience to all court users.
• Manage entry to the buildings and ensure security procedures are consistently followed.
• Use security tools such as CCTV, x-ray equipment, and handheld metal detectors.
• Carry out searches according to site rules and procedures.
• Patrol public and restricted areas while keeping in touch with control points.
• React quickly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, and other security issues.
• Log incidents and daily activity accurately.
• Help move people safely and securely through the building.
• Maintain professionalism, accuracy, and compliance at all times.

Required profile

The role calls for someone who has the right to work in the UK, can pass enhanced DBS checks and BS7858 security clearance, holds a valid SIA licence, and has relevant security experience. A full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are also required.

You should bring strong communication and customer service abilities, a dependable and detail-oriented working style, and the confidence to adapt across several locations with changing priorities. A sound understanding of security procedures and health and safety practices is important, along with the ability to stay calm and handle difficult situations effectively.

Desirable experience

• Background in public sector or other regulated environments.
• Experience operating security systems such as CCTV and screening equipment.
