Mobile Cleaner - North Locality (3 Vacancies)

Job Overview

The Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking Mobile Cleaners to join their Cleaning Service Mobile Team. The primary responsibility is to clean various areas across premises as designated by the line manager, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform floor maintenance using equipment to sweep, suction clean, mop, dry buff, spray clean, spray wax, machine scrub, dry, strip, and re-polish floors.
• Clean soft floor surfaces such as carpets and matting using appropriate stain removal methods.
• Maintain and sanitize toilet and shower areas including all fixtures and fittings.
• Wash and dust ledges, walls, internal surfaces, fixtures, and fittings up to a height of 3.35 meters.
• Polish furniture where necessary.
• Empty and clean internal litter bins and transport waste to designated collection points.

General Working Conditions and Requirements

• Adhere to health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Order (NI) 1978, COSHH regulations, relevant statutory laws, and codes of practice.
• Wear issued protective clothing and flat-soled enclosed-toe footwear during cleaning duties.
• Use cleaning equipment properly and report any defects immediately.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Provide cover for colleagues on sick leave when necessary.
• Carry out duties within or below own grade competency as assigned.

Training and Development

• Participate in induction and refresher training provided by the Education Authority cleaning service.
• Accept training for duties at higher grades when required; payment applicable only for sustained higher-level duties.

Person Specification and Application Guidelines

Applicants must demonstrate at least three months of verifiable experience in cleaning roles. Candidates should show effective communication, teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. They must have knowledge of cleaning methods, machinery, and health and safety requirements including COSHH.

Applicants must either have access to a suitable vehicle, properly maintained and insured for Education Authority business, or provide credible evidence of alternative transport to meet the mobility needs of the role.

An Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background will be required for successful candidates due to the nature of working in regulated activities related to children and young people. Candidates will bear the cost of this disclosure certificate.
