Job description

Job Overview

This permanent part-time opportunity within the City of Greater Sudbury's Community Infrastructure department offers a vital role supporting water and wastewater services. The position is based at the Frobisher Depot and reports directly to the Water Meter Compliance Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, test, calibrate, and maintain various types of water meters.
  • Read and accurately record water consumption flows from designated meters.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the City of Greater Sudbury's Safety Manual along with relevant provincial laws and regulations.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) education is required.
  • A minimum of two years experience in meter installation and maintenance or valid licensure as a water meter installer is necessary.
  • Proficiency in calibrating measuring chambers and gear trains on all meter types in adherence to regulatory standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage courteously and effectively with the public, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Competence in completing M.M.M.S. Crew Cards accurately.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Good health, reliable attendance, and positive past employment records.
  • Provision of a criminal reference check at personal expense is mandatory upon selection.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and physical ability to operate a City vehicle may be required.

Hours and Compensation

  • Work schedule consists of 80 hours bi-weekly with no shift work.
  • Hourly wage is set at $32.64.

Additional Information

The position is affiliated with the CUPE 4705 Outside Unit. The start date will be determined following the selection process.
