Messaging Engineer

Overview

PeopleLogic is seeking an experienced Messaging Engineer to join their team in Singapore. This role is focused on working with message-oriented middleware technologies and streaming platforms to build and maintain robust real-time data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage message streaming platforms like Apache Kafka or equivalent technologies in a live production setting.
• Design and implement topics, including partitioning, replication, and broker configurations to optimize performance and reliability.
• Develop real-time data pipelines employing publish/subscribe methods to ensure high throughput and resilience, integrating with devices and applications.
• Write and fine-tune producer and consumer applications using Java, Scala, or Python to maximize efficiency and performance.
• Understand and manage messaging system internals such as broker clustering, retention controls, consumer group management, and offset handling to guarantee message delivery quality.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least 4 years of professional experience in middleware and streaming platform engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka preferred; familiarity with alternatives such as RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, or Apache Pulsar is also acceptable.
• Proficient programming skills in Java, Scala, or Python geared towards messaging system development.
• Strong knowledge of message brokers' operational and architectural details.
