Job description
Role Overview
Join our team as a Merchandiser responsible for managing the intricate processes involved in apparel sample development. You will work closely with design teams and production units to ensure the timely and accurate creation of sample garments that maintain design standards.
Key Duties
- Manage the complete lifecycle of sample development including prototyping, photo-shoot preparations, and pre-production sampling, addressing construction challenges to preserve design essence.
- Evaluate new design pattern fits, conducting fit sessions and reviewing garment drape, balance, and alignment against technical specifications to provide detailed revision feedback.
- Oversee the technical specification sheets, verifying accuracy in measurements, construction notes, and grading rules.
- Serve as the central technical liaison for sample masters, tailors, and external suppliers, ensuring effective communication of fit and construction modifications to limit sample revisions.
- Coordinate with sourcing teams to confirm availability and suitability of materials, trims, and embellishments, and monitor post-construction quality aspects like shrinkage and seam performance.
- Manage sample development timelines to ensure deadlines for lookbooks, buying meetings, and production approvals are consistently met.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a degree or diploma related to Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, or Garment Construction.
- Have 3 to 5 years of experience in apparel merchandising, sample room handling, or technical design functions.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of garment construction techniques including stitching and seam types.
- Proficient understanding of pattern making, garment grading, and fabric specifications for woven and knit materials.
- Capable of interpreting and resolving issues in complex technical design documents (tech packs).
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication to collaborate effectively with creative and production teams.
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel for tracking and preferably experienced with PLM tools or Adobe Illustrator.
