About the Role

UNIQLO, part of the Fast Retailing Group and recognized globally as one of the largest apparel retailers, is hiring a Merchandise Planner for its Toronto office. The brand is known for offering thoughtfully designed, durable, high-quality clothing at accessible prices while respecting the individuality and lifestyle of its customers.

This position focuses on translating sales trends into actionable plans that support financial goals. The planner will develop sales, gross margin, and merchandise strategies across multiple departments, with a strong emphasis on inventory health, promotional planning, markdown management, and in-season forecasting. The role also involves identifying both risks and opportunities so the business can improve profit and sell-through performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal sales, gross margin, and overall merchandise plans.
  • Update forecasts during the season using current business performance, then share revised recommendations and projections with cross-functional partners and senior leaders each week.
  • Design allocation approaches that align the merchandise plan and product flow with store inventory requirements.
  • Evaluate sales plans and refine them based on customer demand and market shifts.
  • Plan product assortments by item, color, and size for each category in line with seasonal direction.
  • Prepare product recommendations for global headquarters to support the right assortment for the market.
  • Monitor inventory so stores stay well stocked and missing SKUs are minimized.
  • Issue orders for both seasonal product and replenishment buys.
  • Work closely with other functions to support sales plans and deliver business objectives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Mathematics is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in fashion retail merchandise buying.
  • Prior store-level retail exposure and store planning experience are considered an advantage.
  • English and French bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and business-minded thinking, with the ability to interpret data, produce reports, and recommend solutions to issues.
  • Good awareness of fashion trends and customer expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across local teams and global counterparts.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to juggle priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, including pivot tables and lookup formulas.
  • Self-directed with strong ownership, accountability, and initiative.
  • High energy, urgency, and drive.
  • Experience working across global time zones.
  • Willingness to travel to different store locations to understand operations.
  • Flexibility to support the business schedule as needed.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay, performance-based bonus, and full benefits coverage.
  • A prominent role with exposure to regional and global executive collaboration.
  • Opportunities for career advancement in a culture that values ambition, innovation, integrity, and strong results.
  • An entrepreneurial, performance-focused environment where your decisions have a direct business impact.
  • Modern office access with convenient public transit connections.
