Job description
Role Overview
The Off-Price Merchandise Assistant supports the buying organization by keeping the merchandise workflow running smoothly from the beginning of an order through receipt and follow-up. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate merchandise data, entering and updating purchase orders, monitoring shipment progress, and staying in close contact with vendors and internal partners. The goal is to improve speed, accuracy, and coordination across the order cycle so the team can respond quickly to market trends and protect sales and margin opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare style setups, create write orders for the buying office, and keep item records current in the database.
- Work with vendors on purchase orders, including creating new POs and monitoring shipments and receipts.
- Complete order processing manually with a high level of speed and accuracy.
- Make PO updates and corrections in the relevant systems whenever changes are required.
- Follow up with vendors to clear issues, handle adjustments, and confirm order status.
- Enter pricing changes in the RPM system to support pricing updates.
- Help manage season codes for promotional and permanent markdown activity in coordination with the Planner.
- Pull sales reports for buyer business reviews.
- Support advertising tasks, including proofing ads through Marketing Workflow and Workhorse.
- Oversee office samples by requesting, tracking, organizing, storing, and purging them as needed.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent amount of relevant experience is required.
Skills and Qualifications
The role calls for strong communication and organizational ability, excellent attention to detail, and comfort using standard business software on a PC. Intermediate to moderate Excel skills are needed, along with the flexibility to shift between projects as priorities change. Success in this position also depends on the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving retail setting.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $19.00 to $22.00 per hour. Final pay can vary based on accomplishments, skills, experience, and work location. The stated range reflects only one part of the overall compensation package.

This role supports operational execution for the buying team and is focused on merchandise administration, vendor coordination, reporting, pricing updates, and sample management.
