Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned MEP Design Lead specializing in electrical systems to take charge of the electrical design components of major airport infrastructure projects based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This leadership position entails guiding a team of engineers and designers to deliver technically superior, compliant, and innovative electrical design solutions aligned with international and local standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the electrical design team in creating detailed MEP plans for airport terminals, covering power distribution, lighting, fire safety, and backup power systems.
• Assess project requirements to develop comprehensive electrical solutions that meet airport operational criteria, safety mandates, and sustainability goals.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, plumbing, and architectural teams to ensure integrated MEP system execution.
• Oversee the full design cycle from initial concept through construction documentation while managing timelines and budgets.
• Review and authorize all electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure precision and regulatory compliance.
• Coach and advance the skills of junior engineers and designers promoting continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Guarantee all designs meet Saudi building regulations, international airport standards, and other relevant laws.
• Utilize BIM and advanced software tools to develop coordinated, clash-free electrical system models and documentation.
• Effectively communicate project progress, design choices, and technical updates to stakeholders, clients, and project managers.
• Engage in design reviews, value engineering, and issue resolution sessions to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 10 years of experience in MEP design focused on electrical systems.
• Proven record in designing electrical infrastructure for airport projects.
• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior staff.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
• Deep understanding of building codes, electrical standards, and airport-specific design norms.
• Expertise in power distribution, lighting, fire protection, and emergency power systems.
• Strong competency with BIM methodologies and collaborative design workflows.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design workstreams concurrently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for multidisciplinary team coordination.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian regulatory requirements and international airport design guidelines.
• Preferred qualifications: LEED certification, sustainable design expertise, energy modeling experience, and knowledge of airport operations and terminal systems.
