Position Overview
AI Nexus NYC is actively seeking seasoned mentors to support founders who are innovating in AI solutions relevant to healthcare, biotechnology, therapeutics, diagnostics, life sciences, and connected domains. This role involves providing pragmatic advice on company creation, product strategies, technical progress, and regulatory compliance to help transform scientific discoveries into viable scalable businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide founders via both individualized and group mentorship meetings.
- Assist startups in sharpening their business models, product planning, and commercialization strategies.
- Offer expert knowledge concerning healthcare and biotech markets, operational workflows, key stakeholders, and purchasing dynamics.
- Support evaluation of technical feasibility, scientific verification, data management, and ethical AI deployment.
- Advise on pertinent regulatory, clinical, privacy, reimbursement, and quality assurance issues.
- Prepare founders for engagement with customers, strategic partnerships, fundraising rounds, and investor due diligence.
- Facilitate introductions within healthcare, biotech sectors, academia, industry, and investment communities when relevant.
- Engage actively in program events including workshops, office hours, and company evaluations.
- Deliver transparent, constructive, and actionable feedback to participating teams.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive leadership or operational experience in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, health technology, life sciences, or related disciplines.
- Background as a founder, executive, investor, researcher, clinician, product manager, or technical leader.
- In-depth knowledge of AI applications within healthcare or life sciences.
- Proven experience mentoring, advising, investing in, or supporting startups at early stages.
- Strong communication capabilities, coaching aptitude, and relationship management skills.
- Capacity to offer actionable guidance while respecting founders’ decision-making autonomy.
- Commitment to responsible innovation and ethical use of sensitive health and biological data.
Preferred Credentials
- Expertise in clinical development, regulatory affairs, reimbursement pathways, healthcare purchasing, or biopharmaceutical commercialization.
- Familiarity with machine learning, computational biology, drug discovery, digital health technologies, medical imaging, clinical workflow, or healthcare data analytics.
- Broad network within New York’s healthcare, scientific, investor, or entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Engagement Details
This part-time mentorship role entails variable time commitment depending on program demands and mentor availability. Contributions may include attendance at office hours, workshops, company reviews, and individual advisory sessions.
