The organisation is hiring a Mental Health Act Administrator to join its centre in Newmarket, County Cork on a full-time contract basis.
This position is suited to someone with solid administrative capability, strong organisation, and the confidence to support compliance-related work within a regulated healthcare setting. Training and development will be provided in line with the role.
Compensation

Key duties
- Support the centre’s day-to-day administration in line with applicable regulations.
- Work in alignment with the organisation’s mission, vision, and values.
- Follow obligations under the Mental Health Act 2001, the Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and related standards, codes, and regulations.
- Help maintain ongoing compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders such as service user representatives, advocates, family members, allied health professionals, and other key contacts.
- Review individual care plans and ensure clinical staff update them as needed.
- Escalate missed updates in daily progress notes, individual care plans, and MDT forms to the Senior Nurse.
- Check that clinicians and support staff complete the finance tool for service user accounts and that finance ledgers are accurate and reconciled.
- Keep records, files, and documentation organised and up to date.
- Ensure accident and incident reports are closed on the AIRS system by senior staff and filed correctly for the previous week.
- Maintain current clinical risk tools.
- Review section papers carefully and confirm all required documentation is present and correct, flagging amendments promptly where needed.
- Keep diaries and spreadsheets updated with court and tribunal hearing listings.
- Notify the relevant parties about report deadlines and hearing dates.
- Follow up outstanding reports for court and tribunal hearings.
- Contact clinicians and other relevant people to arrange attendance at hearings.
- Support the Tribunal Clerk when needed by preparing the room, making paperwork available, and greeting visitors from reception.
- Liaise with the Tribunal Panel when the Clerk is unavailable.
- Enter section-related data into the Mental Health Act spreadsheet.
- Attend Mental Health Act administration and governance meetings as required.
- Carry out other appropriate tasks that may reasonably be assigned to the post.
Candidate profile
The role is designed for an experienced administrator with strong coordination skills and the ability to work accurately in a regulated environment. Applicants should be comfortable dealing with external agencies and handling documentation that requires close attention to detail.
Required knowledge and experience
- Working knowledge of the standards and legislation relevant to this field.
- Prior experience dealing with external bodies such as the MHC, HSE, and Tusla.
- Strong understanding of the technology needed to perform the role effectively.
- Good grasp of safeguarding processes and procedures.
- Previous administration experience, including report writing, arranging meetings, and liaising with clients or customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
