Job description
About Andromeda
Andromeda addresses the inefficiencies in compute resource allocation, which currently resembles a real estate market with prolonged contracts, manual provisioning, and unused capacity. Founded by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, the company provides scalable AI infrastructure previously exclusive to hyperscalers, enabling startups to access advanced compute power. Their platform dynamically deploys compute clusters across diverse data centers, managing tens of thousands of GPUs for more than 80 customers and supporting billions of GPU-hours on hardware ranging from A100 to GB300.
Role Overview
The position focuses on engineering and managing the control plane that governs Andromeda's extensive compute fleet. Key duties include developing automation that converts raw hardware into customer-ready clusters, managing machine lifecycle processes between users—including joining, wiping, verification, and rejoining—overseeing Kubernetes and Postgres operations across the fleet, contributing to custom Kubernetes operators, scaling node clusters significantly, and participating in on-call support rotations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Substantial technical expertise with demonstrable impact, whether through three years or two decades of relevant work.
- At least two years of experience in on-call roles supporting critical production systems.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals such as the kernel, control groups (cgroups), containerization, networking, and storage.
- Proven experience managing databases, monitoring tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Familiarity with fleet management and capacity planning methodologies.
Additional desirable skills include operator development, GPU management, high-performance computing scheduling, and bare-metal hardware expertise, though these are not mandatory.
Equal Opportunity Statement
