Position overview
Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is looking for a committed leader to join the Regional Executive Board in Kassel. The role is based at Knorrstraße 36, 34121 Kassel, Hesse, and is offered as a permanent full-time position. The application deadline is 31 July 2026.
You will help shape the regional association’s direction, contribute to its long-term stability, and work within a culture built on trust, collaboration, and room for initiative. The organization operates in rescue and medical services, care, disaster protection, social services, and work with children and young people.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the financial management of the regional association and help secure its sustainable development through strategic decisions.
- Represent the association in regional and supra-regional committees and support its continued development at state level.
- Act as a public representative for Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. toward political stakeholders, payers, public authorities, partner organizations, and other relevant contacts in the region.
- Use your local network in the Kassel area to build reliable and long-term working relationships.
- Lead, together with one full-time and one volunteer board member, a regional association with around 400 paid employees and 50 volunteers.
- Take shared responsibility for areas such as rescue services, nursing, daycare centers, emergency call systems, patient transport, volunteering programs, youth work, basic training, migration and integration, medical standby services, and administration.
- Help shape staffing strategy, employee development, and long-term workforce retention.
- Create attractive framework conditions for a modern working environment that fits the organization’s values and future needs.
- Drive innovation, new business fields, and the ongoing improvement of existing services.
- Support the strategic evolution of the regional association.
Candidate profile
- Completed degree in business administration or a similar qualification.
- Several years of relevant experience in a comparable role.
- Strong social skills and leadership experience, with the ability to develop and guide teams.
- Clear entrepreneurial thinking and a strong quality mindset.
- Previous leadership experience in a relief organization, healthcare setting, or similar environment.
- Strong negotiation ability, hands-on execution strength, and solid communication and advisory skills.
- Ability to serve as a role model across the entire regional association.
- Identification with the values of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V.
- Very good written and spoken German.
