Role Overview

The Member of Technical Staff will contribute to building software that addresses the cumbersome, repetitive, and paper-heavy aspects of personal injury law. This role involves ownership of critical product features from conception to launch, collaborating closely with teams across product, operations, and design.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of major software features from architectural design through deployment.
• Develop efficient and reliable systems supporting core workflows using Python/Django, React, and AWS technologies.
• Implement AI-driven features that simplify legal complexities for law firm users.
• Work together with cross-functional teams to prioritize and shape product development.
• Contribute to building the engineering culture, standards, and best practices during this company growth phase.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

• More than three years of experience building dependable and secure production software.
• Expertise working across both frontend and backend (full-stack) environments.
• Strong skills in Python and React, or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Django framework, AWS cloud services, and OpenAI APIs.
• Background in early-stage startups with an emphasis on engineering standards.
• Familiarity with legal technology, document processing, or data-intensive workflows.

Additional Considerations

• This role is not suitable for those who prefer well-defined project specifications or working exclusively on a mature codebase.
• Candidates who prefer deep specialization in a single layer rather than full-stack responsibility may find this role less fitting.
• This is not a fully remote position; the role requires onsite attendance in New York City four days per week.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range between $180,000 - $280,000 annually, complemented by equity.
