Role overview

The Member Admissions Specialist supports the intake journey for new members at Groups Recover Together. This role sits at the center of a cross-functional team and helps ensure every admission is handled with structure, speed, and respect. The specialist coordinates the member’s first interaction with the program and works closely with medical staff, counselors, and other colleagues to keep the admission process moving smoothly.

Schedule

This is a remote position with a Monday to Friday schedule, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, with evening availability required as needed.

Key responsibilities

The role includes managing daily admission workflow, supporting members through check-in and check-out, handling payment and prescription-related steps, and assisting with drug screen coordination. It also requires maintaining accurate member records in the EMR, coordinating appointments with medical providers, sending reminders, rescheduling when necessary, and making sure intake paperwork is completed correctly and on time.

The specialist is also expected to welcome prospective members, act as their first point of contact, verify insurance and enrollment details, explain plan-related questions such as eligibility and copays, and direct members to the appropriate support contacts when issues involve finances, insurance, or other program concerns. Additional expectations include helping members complete urine drug screening during intake, raising process improvements with a supervisor, and following company, local, state, and federal requirements.

Other tasks may be assigned from time to time depending on business needs.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Success in this role requires clear written and spoken communication, strong customer service, careful handling of confidential information, and the ability to stay organized while managing multiple priorities with limited supervision. Candidates should be comfortable solving problems independently, working collaboratively, adapting to change, managing time well, and upholding the Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree, either completed or in progress, is preferred. The employer is looking for at least two years of administrative experience. Experience in a virtual setting is preferred, especially in healthcare, insurance eligibility, retail, or hospitality. Strong ability with Excel or spreadsheets, Gmail, Google Docs, and EMR systems is expected. Applicants must also have dependable internet and phone service from their remote location, including at least 40 Mbps download speed, 10 Mbps upload speed, and a strong Wi‑Fi signal. Pre-employment checks are required and may include background screening, fingerprinting, drug testing, and health screening depending on state rules.

Physical requirements and working conditions

The job primarily involves talking, hearing, sitting, and frequent use of hands and fingers. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching are also part of the work.
