Role overview
The Medical Writer I is part of the Clinical Support quality assurance function and reports to the QA Advisor. In this position, you will examine medical records and create clear medical narrative summaries that align with client expectations, internal standards, protocol requirements, and accuracy goals. The work includes preparing medical narratives for Medicare Set Asides (MSAs), Medical Cost Projections, EMSAs, and other service-line outputs as needed.
Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records and prepare MSA narratives for nurse review.
- Use the established narrative framework and suggest ways to make the process more efficient.
- Check drafts carefully for grammar, spelling, and overall writing quality.
- Coordinate with the Medical Analyst and Compliance Advisor when file-level input is needed.
- Consistently meet daily and monthly output targets as well as client SLA deadlines and turnaround times.
Requirements
- Completion of high school or an equivalent qualification.
- Prior exposure to medical records or a medical-related background is preferred.
- Previous experience in the Medicare Set Aside space is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.
- Solid technical ability and practical knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Capable of working on your own with a self-directed and motivated approach.
- Interest in a fast-moving, professional work environment.
