Role overview
The Medical Writer I position sits within Clinical Support and reports to the QA Advisor. In this role, you will examine medical records and prepare clear medical narrative summaries that align with client needs, protocol requirements, and internal quality standards. The work includes developing narratives for Medicare Set Asides (MSAs), Medical Cost Projections, EMSAs, and other deliverables handled by the Services Department.
Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records and prepare MSA narratives ahead of nurse review.
- Work within established narrative standards and suggest practical ways to improve efficiency.
- Check narratives carefully for spelling and grammar issues.
- Coordinate with the Medical Analyst and Compliance Advisor as needed for case-specific questions.
- Consistently meet daily and monthly output targets along with client SLA deadlines and turnaround times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- Prior exposure to medical records or a related healthcare background is preferred.
- Experience in the Medicare Set Aside field is preferred.
- Strong people skills and clear written and verbal communication are important.
- Good time management and the ability to balance deadlines are needed.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, team-based setting is expected.
- Solid technical ability and practical use of Microsoft Office are required.
- You should be able to work independently, stay self-motivated, and take initiative.
