Role Overview
Rukmani Birla Hospital in Jaipur, part of CK Birla Hospitals, is looking for a Medical Superintendent to lead the hospital’s clinical function from both a strategic and operational standpoint. The position focuses on delivering safe, ethical, patient-focused, and evidence-based care while ensuring adherence to all legal, statutory, and accreditation obligations. This role partners with consultants, nursing leadership, quality teams, operations, and support functions to strengthen clinical outcomes, streamline operations, and improve the overall patient journey.
Clinical Governance
- Take charge of the hospital’s medical services and clinical administration.
- Safeguard the delivery of consistent, high-quality, safe, and evidence-led care across all departments.
- Track clinical performance measures such as outcomes, mortality, morbidity, infection control, and patient safety metrics.
- Implement and reinforce clinical protocols, SOPs, and treatment pathways.
- Lead medical governance discussions, including the Medical Advisory Committee, mortality reviews, credentialing forums, and similar committees.
Medical Administration
- Coordinate and oversee consultants, resident doctors, medical officers, and clinical teams.
- Manage doctor onboarding, credentialing, privileging, and periodic performance reviews.
- Ensure appropriate medical coverage and effective duty roster planning.
- Handle clinical escalations and support collaboration between departments.
Quality and Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Champion continuous quality improvement efforts across the hospital.
- Review quality metrics and drive corrective and preventive actions where needed.
- Support accreditation assessments and quality certification activities.
Regulatory and Medico-Legal Compliance
- Maintain compliance with healthcare legislation, biomedical waste rules, clinical establishment standards, fire safety norms, and other statutory requirements.
- Oversee medico-legal matters and ensure documentation and reporting are completed on time.
- Coordinate with government bodies and regulatory agencies whenever required.
Patient Safety and Experience
- Build and sustain a strong culture of patient safety and ethical practice.
- Review complaints related to clinical care and ensure they are resolved promptly.
- Advance patient-centred care and help improve satisfaction outcomes.
- Lead initiatives aimed at minimizing clinical risk and adverse events.
Infection Prevention and Control
- Head the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
- Monitor hospital-acquired infections, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control compliance.
- Ensure hospital-wide adherence to infection prevention protocols.
Operational Excellence
- Work closely with Operations, Nursing, HR, Pharmacy, Diagnostics, and Support Services to improve clinical workflows.
- Enhance bed occupancy, patient movement, emergency response, OT usage, and discharge efficiency.
- Monitor key clinical and operational performance indicators.
Medical Education and Research
- Encourage continuing medical education programs.
- Support clinical research, publications, and evidence-based practice.
- Guide and mentor junior doctors and residents.
- Promote continuous learning and professional growth within the clinical team.
Financial Stewardship
- Contribute to annual budgeting and resource planning.
- Ensure clinical resources are used efficiently without affecting care quality.
- Support cost-optimization efforts while protecting patient outcomes.
Leadership and Culture

Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MBBS degree. A postgraduate qualification such as MHA or MD/DNB/MBA in Hospital Administration is also required.
Experience
Candidates should bring 12 to 15 years of experience after qualification in a multispecialty or tertiary-care hospital setting. At least 5 years should have been spent in a senior medical administration position or as a Medical Superintendent. Prior experience in NABH-accredited hospitals is essential, along with proven exposure to clinical governance, quality management, and hospital operations.
