Job description

Role overview

The Medical Scribe supports the clinician by preparing and completing visit documentation, helping improve the pace and quality of patient encounters as well as overall clinic operations. This Carrollton-based clinic is fast-moving, so someone who learns quickly and communicates confidently is likely to succeed.

Commitment and schedule

This position is a part-time onsite role, but it requires a full-year commitment. It is not intended as a summer-only assignment. Gap-year students are encouraged to apply.

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Core duties

  • Support the provider while using the electronic health record system.
  • Pull up relevant details for the provider’s review.
  • Document information in the EHR as instructed.
  • Look up requested information to assist with patient care.
  • Handle messages and other documentation tasks as directed.
  • Help record patient-care details in the EHR and ensure ordered services are properly coded in both the EHR and the patient superbill.
  • Follow HIPAA privacy and compliance procedures.

Required background and skills

Applicants should be comfortable with medical and anatomy terminology and able to communicate professionally with patients and physicians/physician assistants. A typing speed of 45+ words per minute is needed, along with strong Microsoft Office skills. High school diploma or GED is preferred, and a bachelor’s degree is also preferred.

This role is intended for candidates able to commit for at least one year.
