Overview

The Royal Women's Hospital in Parkville offers a part-time, ongoing position for a Medical Scientist specializing in Embryology. This role supports the Public Fertility Services program, committed to providing inclusive, high-quality fertility care, including treatments like intrauterine insemination, IVF, preimplantation genetic testing, fertility preservation, and management of a publicly funded Donor Egg and Sperm Bank.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Conduct assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures and treatments within the embryology laboratory
  • Process and cryopreserve human gametes, embryos, and tissue samples
  • Maintain precise records for laboratory activities and outcomes
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and quality control protocols
  • Provide assistance with patient sample management and general reception tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree or an equivalent qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reproductive biology and assisted reproductive technologies
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
