Role Overview
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Vaccine & Immune Therapy holds deep scientific knowledge in the therapeutic domain and interacts with Key External Experts (KEEs) to discuss disease areas and clinical data without promotion. This individual gathers actionable insights to guide brand and medical strategies, builds strategic partnerships within hospitals and institutions, and engages non-traditional healthcare stakeholders such as policymakers and payers.
This position is field-based and requires travel across assigned Saudi territories to engage healthcare professionals, external experts, and vaccination stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and nurture relationships with KEEs and non-traditional stakeholders based on expertise and influence.
- Prioritize accounts by patient care pathways and map multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Gather insights into medical community trends, patient journeys, and gaps in disease management.
- Establish scientific collaborations aimed at advancing disease understanding and evidence-based practice changes through clinical trials, studies, and scientific exchanges.
- Identify and train speakers for local events and recommend participants for advisory boards, also serving as faculty where needed.
- Present scientific data to healthcare professionals individually or in groups and support continuing medical education events.
- Support regional evidence generation aligned with medical strategies.
- Organize scientific events within healthcare institutions to promote comprehensive patient care approaches.
- Embed healthcare system insights into prioritized institutions to improve outcomes.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of AstraZeneca products, competitors, emerging therapies, and treatment guidelines; train internal stakeholders accordingly.
- Provide accurate scientific responses to unsolicited inquiries about products or indications following company and regulatory policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with proven familiarity with Saudi Arabia's healthcare environment and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology, or biomedical sciences; postgraduate qualifications preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English, adept at delivering scientific presentations to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to learn quickly, handle ambiguity, demonstrate scientific expertise, and collaborate within multicultural matrix teams.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation and business judgment capabilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
- Desirable: experience in immunology therapy, project management, advanced medical role knowledge, and clinical or basic research.
