Overview

Natera is a leading clinical genetic testing company specializing in non-invasive cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and liquid biopsy testing solutions. We are currently seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Oncology portfolio to support our personalized tumor-informed minimal residual disease (MRD) test, Signatera. This role is based in Northern California and operates primarily in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture scientific partnerships with oncology healthcare providers and key opinion leaders within a designated territory.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and evidence-based education about Natera’s oncology molecular diagnostic products and clinical data.
  • Swiftly execute and adjust territory strategies in alignment with evolving Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Gather and communicate real-time field insights, including oncology treatment patterns, unmet needs, and competitive developments.
  • Respond promptly and compliantly to unsolicited scientific inquiries.
  • Assist with Medical Affairs initiatives such as advisory panels and educational programs.
  • Serve as an expert regarding oncology disease states, clinical dossiers, and the diagnostics marketplace.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial and clinical teams to enhance patient care while upholding scientific integrity.
  • Demonstrate strict adherence to healthcare regulations and high ethical standards.
  • Support clinical trials and research activities at academic and regional study centers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of territory engagements and actionable clinical insights.
  • Travel extensively, exceeding 60%, to engage healthcare professionals and attend conferences.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Possession of an advanced healthcare or scientific degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D., D.N.P.) preferred; a minimum of a Master’s degree is required.
  • Previous experience in Medical Affairs or as an MSL within oncology or molecular diagnostics fields is advantageous.
  • Residence within Northern California territory is mandatory.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to explain complex genetic test results and clinical products to oncology specialists clearly.
  • Proven capability to build collaborative relationships with both internal teams and external healthcare professionals.
  • Independent and remote working proficiency paired with a strong team-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and proactive in establishing structure and processes.
  • Effective communicator who can convey clinical evidence using straightforward language.
  • Adaptable to unexpected clinical tasks and strategic changes.
  • High level of personal responsibility, ownership, and scientific judgment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Remote and field-based position requiring frequent computer use and significant travel.
  • Flexible scheduling needed to accommodate evening or weekend clinical meetings as necessary.
  • Completion of required HIPAA/PHI privacy, compliance, and security training within 30 days of hire is mandatory.
  • Ongoing adherence to all organizational training requirements at Natera is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $195,000 USD annually, with final offers depending on individual qualifications, experience, certifications, and location-specific cost of labor factors.
