Position Overview

This role is for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) based in the United States, specializing in oncology and precision medicine. It involves field-based responsibilities to serve as a scientific expert, supporting advances in innovative cancer diagnostics and molecular testing technologies. The MSL will cultivate trusted relationships with healthcare providers and key opinion leaders, facilitating the exchange of clinical insights that impact patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain credible scientific partnerships with oncology healthcare professionals, researchers, and opinion leaders within an assigned territory.
  • Provide accurate and balanced clinical education on oncology diagnostics, molecular testing, and substantiating clinical evidence.
  • Implement territory strategies aligned with Medical Affairs objectives, adapting responsively to changing scientific and clinical landscapes.
  • Gather and communicate insights from clinical practice, including treatment patterns, unmet needs, competitor activity, and new opportunities.
  • Respond promptly and compliantly to unsolicited medical inquiries with robust scientific information.
  • Support advisory boards, medical education initiatives, clinical programs, and various Medical Affairs activities.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of oncology diseases, clinical research developments, and the molecular diagnostics sector.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, clinical, and cross-functional teams while preserving scientific independence and integrity.
  • Assist in clinical trial support and research collaborations with academic and regional study sites.
  • Maintain records of field activities and actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Travel extensively—approximately 60-70% within the territory—for healthcare engagements, conferences, and scientific forums.
  • Complete mandatory compliance, privacy, and security training requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree preferred (Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D., D.N.P.), with at least a master's degree as a minimum qualification.
  • Previous experience in Medical Affairs or as a Medical Science Liaison, ideally within oncology, molecular diagnostics, biotech, or related healthcare sectors.
  • Proven capability to establish trustworthy relationships with healthcare providers, researchers, and internal teams.
  • Strong grasp of clinical data interpretation, genetic testing technologies, oncology treatment methods, and scientific research principles.
  • Effective communication skills, able to clarify complex scientific concepts accurately, avoiding excessive jargon.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication tailored to specialized medical audiences.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote, field-based environment while maintaining close collaboration with internal colleagues.
  • High levels of accountability, adaptability, and scientific judgment managing priorities and unforeseen challenges.
  • Thrives in a dynamic setting with continuous clinical and strategic evolution.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory and be willing to travel frequently.
