Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Field Medical Affairs, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) acts as a vital scientific collaborator with healthcare providers and internal teams. This field-based role aims to disseminate precise, balanced, and evidence-supported medical information for the company’s products and pipeline while fostering valued scientific interactions within medical communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compelling clinical and scientific presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Build and sustain influential relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and medical specialists in relevant therapeutic domains.
- Provide scientific support during national and regional medical conferences.
- Address unsolicited medical information inquiries with tailored, evidence-based responses.
- Assist in planning and facilitating Advisory Boards, collaborating on scientific presentations and materials.
- Help develop and review medical communications, including slide decks and clinical summaries.
- Collect and relay critical medical insights from healthcare professional interactions to internal stakeholders.
- Educate healthcare providers about current and future therapies in the company’s portfolio.
- Work closely with Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Global Medical Affairs teams to satisfy scientific and educational requirements.
- Support clinical researchers and ongoing product-related research initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and company standards across activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and manage budgetary responsibilities relating to the territory.
Required Experience
- At least five years’ experience as an MSL in pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
- Exposure to multiple therapeutic areas preferred, especially biologics and biosimilars.
- Proven success cultivating and managing relationships with healthcare professionals and external stakeholders.
- Adaptability and effectiveness in a fast-changing environment.
- Experience collaborating compliantly with cross-functional groups including commercial and market access teams.
- Strong professional representation of Medical Affairs with scientific integrity.
Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance demands.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Aptitude for clearly explaining intricate clinical and scientific information.
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- Effective teaching and storytelling skills to engage and educate audiences.
- Capacity to work autonomously while supporting team efforts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Willingness to travel 50% or more based on territory needs.
Education
- Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO) required.
- Minimum five years of MSL experience mandatory.
