Job description
Position Overview
This position is based in Calgary, AB or Vancouver, BC, Canada. Candidates should be able to access these locations independently as no relocation support is available. The role demands building solid scientific relationships with leading external experts and key accounts, emphasizing credibility through compliant, high-quality medical engagement. An important aspect is gathering actionable medical insights that inform internal medical strategy, education, evidence generation, and cross-functional planning. The role also requires measurable contributions to medical goals, including executing targeted engagement plans, fostering scientific exchange, supporting congress and educational activities, and deepening therapeutic area and data understanding.
Key Duties
- Establish and maintain peer-to-peer scientific contacts and develop a network of healthcare professionals for collaboration.
- Present and discuss scientific data and concepts clearly to ensure mutual understanding and collect insights to influence Novartis's research and strategic direction.
- Design and implement engagement strategies focused on prioritizing and interacting with medical experts in line with business goals.
- Provide up-to-date medical information to external stakeholders, ensuring evidence-based awareness of Novartis products concerning medical guidelines and health economics.
- Bring an entrepreneurial approach and collaborate effectively within a matrix cross-functional team.
- Adapt flexibly to interface successfully with both internal and external parties.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Possession of an advanced degree such as a Doctorate, PharmD, or MD coupled with strong medical or technical expertise.
- Proven skills in influencing, clinical research insight, and knowledge of business and market dynamics.
- Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison is preferred.
- Strong track record of building credible, peer-level relationships with medical experts and decision-makers.
- Competence in synthesizing complex scientific information and analyzing it within strategic and regulatory frameworks, alongside a strong customer-oriented mindset and integrity.
- Understanding of Canadian reimbursement procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in relevant therapeutic areas is advantageous.
- Experience in customer-facing healthcare roles is a plus.
