What You Will Do

• Stay in close contact with students and their families to understand goals, expectations, and needs throughout the admissions process.
• Deliver full-cycle advising support, including one-on-one 60-minute Zoom sessions with each student.
• Track important application deadlines and key academic milestones.
• Assign meaningful work between sessions to help students stay on course and make steady progress.
• Handle questions and concerns from both students and parents in a timely manner.
• Guide a caseload of medical school, pre-med, and BS/MD applicants with care and consistency.
• Support at least five applicants per admissions cycle.
• Tailor advising to each student’s location, financial situation, academic record, extracurricular profile, and long-term goals.
• Research schools, policies, and admissions topics as needed to strengthen advising and provide useful resources.
• Help students build a thoughtful, balanced list of medical schools aligned with their academic, professional, and personal priorities.
• Offer strategic, up-to-date guidance on evolving admissions issues.
• Coach students through personal statements, secondary essays, résumés, and related application materials by helping them shape their story and improve their drafts.
• Prepare students for interviews and support them throughout the application process.
• Join regular meetings with medical school admissions experts to review student progress and evaluate application materials from a committee perspective.
• Attend biweekly coach meetings led by the Lead Coach mentor.
• Keep the Program Director and Director of Client Success informed about student progress through consistent communication.

Candidate Profile

• Background from, or employment at, a top 50 university or top 20 liberal arts college.
• Prior experience as a college admissions officer is advantageous but not required.
• Strong understanding of U.S. medical school admissions is highly desirable, including AMCAS/AACOMAS, secondary applications, MCAT preparation, interview formats such as MMI, and holistic review.
• Solid knowledge of the U.S. college admissions landscape, along with a willingness to stay current on changes in the process.
• Familiarity with U.S. undergraduate and medical education pathways, including pre-med advising and pipeline programs.
• Experience in an academic support or educational setting such as teaching, AmeriCorps, or research.
• Ability to juggle multiple students and priorities effectively.
• Availability during after-school hours and weekends, with occasional flexibility for international time zones during busy admissions periods.
• Strong organizational habits, time management, attention to detail, and follow-through on deadlines and document submission.
• Excellent writing skills and strong interpersonal communication abilities.
• Willingness to work with students for one year or through the end of the admissions cycle.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $23.75 to $32.75.
