Role summary
This is a full-time remote opportunity for a Medical Research Scientist working from anywhere in Ireland. The position supports a client focused on technical research in healthcare and combines machine learning, medical data analysis, and publication-oriented research.
Compensation
The role is budgeted at USD 350,000 to USD 500,000 per year.
What you will do
- Create, train, and validate machine learning models for medical image analysis and clinical decision support.
- Work closely with clinicians, data scientists, and software engineers to turn research concepts into deployable products and workflows.
- Prepare research outputs for academic journals and conference presentations.
- Improve model performance, precision, and computing efficiency for large medical datasets.
- Help build internal utilities and frameworks that make research work faster and more effective.
Qualifications and technical background
- A PhD, or equivalent hands-on experience, in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline with medical applications.
- Strong practical experience in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods for healthcare data.
- Programming ability in Python, R, or Julia, along with familiarity with tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
- Exposure to medical imaging datasets such as MRI, CT, and X-ray, plus related libraries and toolkits like ITK, SimpleITK, and MONAI.
- A solid history of peer-reviewed publications in medical research or AI journals.
- Working knowledge of healthcare data standards such as DICOM and HL7, as well as compliance needs including HIPAA and GDPR.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving research setting with frequent iteration cycles.
