About the Role
The position of Medical Records Clerk involves supporting litigation teams by managing requests for medical, billing, employment, and other case documents. This includes organizing incoming records, coordinating expert communications, and maintaining internal tracking systems crucial for discovery and trial preparation. The role demands acute attention to detail and the capacity to juggle multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, monitor, and track requests for medical and other relevant case records.
- Examine and arrange the incoming documentation for thorough review by attorneys and paralegals.
- Keep detailed and accurate databases to monitor records requests and expert assignments.
- Assist in assembling records and related materials for expert evaluations and analyses.
- Manage communications with retained experts to ensure timely responses and adherence to deadlines.
- Help with document production tasks, such as copying, scanning, and proper labeling of documents.
- Maintain organized case files and provide additional administrative assistance as necessary.
- Uphold confidentiality standards and handle sensitive legal information with care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in legal, medical, or administrative records roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with case support in Illinois, Indiana, and/or Michigan is advantageous.
- Strong skills in organization and time management.
- Capability to follow up on multiple deadlines across various cases effectively.
- Excellent communication abilities and professionalism when interacting with vendors and experts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scanning technologies.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent is required; additional legal or administrative education is a plus.
