Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all medical records and manage authorized releases of information, directing any uncertain requests to supervisors appropriately.
- Maintain and organize current medical filing systems, handling clerical tasks such as report generation, correspondence, telephone communications, message relaying, and filing documentation from various sources.
- Coordinate inmate medical appointments as needed and assist in compiling periodic statistical and management reports.
- Participate actively in quality of care review audits to uphold Quality Improvement standards.
- Account for the accurate organization, documentation, and security of health records to facilitate access for authorized personnel.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED is required.
- Preferably completed training from an accredited medical records program or have at least one year of experience working within a medical records system; however, this is not mandatory.
